In the past when you had to forward emails to external email address you had to use Active Directory - Users and Computers to create the contact.
With Exchange Server 2010 this task you could make from the Exchange Management Console.
To forward emails to External contact in Exchange Server 2010 follow the steps below.
Step 1: Create Mail Contact:

- Go to Exchange Server Console | Recipient Configuration | Right Click on Mail Contact |New Mail Contact,
- Select New Contact | Click Next,
- Fill in the details and type the external email address,
- Click on Next | New | Finish.
- Go to Exchange Server Console | Recipient Configuration | Mailbox,
- Find the user you need to forward his emails to external email address | Right click on his account | Properties,
- In the properties page go to the Mail Flow Settings tab | 2x click on Delivery Options,
- On the Delivery Option page select the Forward to: and click on Browse,
- Select the mail contact you have created on Step 1,
- Click OK.
